Initial blog entry for GCC

Hi, Grocery Clearance Center Shoppers!

My name is Gary Gluckman. I'm the founder, owner and operator of The Grocery Clearance Center, or "GCC". If you read the "Our Story" link, you know we opened in 1993 and have been growing ever since.

The overarching purpose of our website and this blog is to answer the question I'm so often asked, "Why don't more people know about you?" Don't get me wrong - we have an extremely large and fiercely-loyal customer base. But this doesn't mean that we don't want to share our concept with new people. And what better way than going online and allowing people to share their experiences on this website!

Years ago, a friend of my father told me, "One of the most important aspects to growing a business is that your customers and clients learn to trust you as quickly as possible , because, from there, anything is possible."

This piece of advice has guided me from the beginning in1993, and still factors in to every business decision I make. I can honestly say (and those of you have shopped with me for nearly two decades can verify) that I put the "experience" of the GCC above all else.

What does this mean? Well, for one, it is my job to search out the products that go into the store and to negotiate their purchase at the lowest possible prices Our varying and vast array of merchandise - from the ordinary to the exotic - is one exciting part of the GCC experience.

Secondly, another aspect of the experience of the GCC is how you, the customer, are treated. Even though we have greatly-discounted prices, we do not forgo all the "nice little things" that every business should do for its customers. Here you can expect to be treated as well (and hopefully better) than if you were shopping with one of those impersonal retail mega-giants or at a high-end, high-dollar natural foods store.

Thirdly, the rare complaint always comes straight to my desk. If it has not already been resolved by my supervisory or management staff, at my desk it will be - and most often to the delight of our customer.

This brings me to one of the reasons for our blog. If you disagree with any of my characterizations of the GCC, or of my perception of what the "experience" is like, you have this forum to express your viewpoint.

Conversely, if you agree and would like to share your thoughts with others, please comment as well. This helps grow our GCC community and, in turn, enables me to purchase more and more and more of the great stuff you love!

Another reason for the blog is to let others know why you enjoyed (or did not enjoy) your experience at the GCC. Please explain your visit in detail. What exactly did you buy? How much did it cost? Is there a lot of this item, or just a few more cases? What have you paid elsewhere? The more details you share, the more vivid the picture is for potential customers who have not been here yet.

Finally, here is my promise to you. I will leave up all posted comments, positive or negative, provided they are truthful. We are proud to be a completely transparent business, and are eager for all who read this blog and visit us to know why we are as successful as we are.

If you have not already been here, please come by and see for yourself!

Best regards,

Gary
